Meeting on Future of Social Housing

26th January 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This meeting is now full.

The Future of Social Housing is the subject of a major Rotherham Federation meeting on Friday 26th January 2018. Speakers include John Healey MP Shadow Minister of Housing, Cllr Dominic Beck RMBC Cabinet Member for Housing and Neighbourhoods,  John Bibby Chief Executive Officer of the Association of Retained Council Housing and Lilian Shears Vice Chair of Rotherham Federation.

As well as speakers, there will be workshops on number of themes including building more social housing, who is social housing for, the perception of social housing tenants and the role of tenants’ voices. Pie and peas will be served at the end of the meeting.

One of the organisers Steve Ruffle CEO of Rotherham Federation said “having a safe and secure home is important to all of us. As well as the Labour Party’s review of social housing, the Government plans to release a Housing Green Paper in the next few weeks. This meeting comes at an opportune time as the future of social housing is a key issue for our time.”

He added “tenants’ voices are more important now than ever and we encourage people to get involved with both these important reviews, come to the meeting and have a say”.

The meeting will be held between 2pm and 4pm at Springwell Gardens Community Centre. Places are free but must be booked in advance. Please contact Rotherham Federation on 01709 368515 or email info@rotherfed.org to confirm your place. Springwell Gardens Community Centre is on Eastwood View near Doncaster Road. 115 and 37 buses from the town centre regularly stop nearby, alight at Herons supermarket.
